A native Iowan, Michael captures the beauty of both the natural and technological worlds in which he grew-up. Whether cityscapes, muscle cars or a lone prairie flower, Michael's subjects are photographed within a stable composition. He has a flair for photographic ideas both in and out of the studio and has been a freelance/commercial photographer for more than eleven years.

His work was selected for the Des Moines Art Center's Faces of Iowa exhibition in 2000. He has worked for the Des Moines Water Works Water Festival, Grand View College (Photo Gallery Manager Communications Building 1997-1999 and Studenterfest 1996-1999), American Cancer Society of North Iowa (Committee Member/Photographer), Mercy Medical Hospital of North Iowa Breast and Cervical Cancer Department (Walk, Run and Wag 04'-08'). In 1996, Michael was selected as Very Special Arts of Iowa "Artist of the Year" and had a photo selected for the Very Special Arts of Iowa Sesquicentennial Award, "Rivers View". He has also displayed photos at the Iowa State Fair Photo Salon in (97' and 99'). Michael was also invited to participate in an art project through the Arts and Humanities Department through University of Iowa, known as Hey Ya (visual arts in the Year of the Arts & Humanities 04'),” the project combines art & technology research with a broad public information effort.

Bio: Michael received a liberal arts degree from Des Moines Area Community College in 1993 and a B.A. in Radio/TV and Photography through the Creative and Performing Arts curriculum from Grand View College in 1999. He has taught adult education photography classes at North Iowa Area Community College (04') and presently owns Portraits of Iowa, his freelance photography business. Michael has also judged the North Iowa Fair photo exhibits in Mason City,IA for the last 5 years(03'through 08'). He has also been associated with the  Iowa Arts Council as an artist through the Artist registry about 10 years.
